Doubletree Guest Suites Atlanta-Galleria

The Doubletree Guest Suites Atlanta - Galleria was the hotel I stayed at recently during my trip to Atlanta recently. Just as the name suggested, this is a guest suites style hotel, where the room is a standard size suite.

As you enter the hotel main area and check in, there is a center atrium area where they serve morning breakfast. The rooms around the center of the hotel have a window that open up to view the center atrium area (See picture to the right). The location of the hotel isn't too bad. There is nice galleria mall area close by and other stores including Target, Walmart, Bestbuy, Circuit City, CompUSA, etc. There also a host of places to eat nearby as well, not to mention Hooter's for those who are interested in some good buffalo wings. The hotel exterior could use a new paint job. The current dark pinkish / red paint does not go too well in my book.

The guest suites room offer two separated rooms. The main room consist of a dinning table, a typical wet bar with small refrigerator, and a sofa set with TV. The bedroom will come with a standard king or two double size beds with another TV. One thing this hotel offers where other typical doubletree won't have is a fairly large size tub. Or as they call it a wirlpool tub with jetstream. The water pressure from the show is fairly weak for my taste. I haven't had a chance to try out the wirlpool feature, but it look pretty decent. Enough for two average size individuals. The room is clean for a typical standard type room. It has the standard shampoo and soap, nothing special.

The workout room is deep in length, however it lacks the fitness. There are two step climbs and two workout bicycles. In the room of that size, they could've fit in two additional threadmills and a machine workout. The room is a bit darker for my taste as well. I am used to a workout room nice and bright. I have to say, this room is disappointing. One of the worst of all hotels I've been to so far.

The hotel also host a beverage bar area and restaurant in the atrium area. I have not had the opportunity to try it out, so can't really comment on it. As a exclusive Hilton family member, you will receive a coupon for complimentry breakfast. Unlike other places, this particular location you only receive complimentry continental breakfast (cerals, fruits, milk, etc). For any type of hot meal, it will be additional $5.00. Without coupon, breakfast would've been $12.00. This the first for me where being a Diamond member where you have to pay extra for full breakfast. ARGH!

Overall, you could find better places in the area for about the same price range. After all, this is Atlanta and the hotel is in a pretty decent part of town. The Marriott down the street or the Homewood Suites would've been a better choice in my opinion. I've stayed at several Doubletreet location, I have to say this is the worst of them.
